Painting for me is about melding vibrant colour with sensuous form — the subject matter is incidental. This had its origins in several key experiences.
I start my paintings with loose splashes of colour, allowing forms and figures to present themselves, without prior planning or predictability — but I spend many hours shaping both the details and the wholes. Now, only the best will do: I use top quality Belgian canvases and fine hand-made paints. They both are marvelous to work with and help to produce my elaborate, sensuous works.
