DELUDED

To think you are not deluded is a delusion.

Artist’s Statement

My understanding of delusion began in the paling-fenced backyard of my suburban childhood, when shattered by the discovery Santa was a lie.

Conditioning starts young creating toilet-trained infants, our expanding little minds are naively exposed to a universe of influencers. We assemble a persona, richly adorned with beliefs and biases, long before the development of reason.

And go on living in the comfort of our self-denial.

This exhibition holds up a mirror to these powerful facets of human existence.

To echo the unicity amongst all humanity.

I never heard a prejudiced remark from my parents, though I gleaned from my father
a silent dislike for America. I learned quickly as a skinny kid that the obligatory schoolyard bladder sports was not for me, finding refuge instead in gentler pursuits and friendships with immigrant Greek, Italian and Lebanese kids.

Their families and culture seemed more interesting to me.

“The principal asset that all humanity share is consciousness” Nisargadatta Maharaji

Deluded - LED light

The Hypocrite 2025 - Repurposed army searchlight mirror, tinted mirror, steel, fibreglass. This piece explores the architecture of hypocrisy. The delusion of the belief in a stable unified self. This sculpture argues that the self is an illusion - a makeshift collage of external interpretations, constantly flux and never truly whole. Within it the broken mirrors reveal the fragmented and distorted nature the viewed through the lens of self. The word ′moi′ etched on every shard, represents the core of hypocritical action; the perpetual exception we make for ourselves, the self interest that fractures our integrity. The piece is not a condemnation, but an invitation for the viewer to confront the hypocrite we all risk becoming, bouncing back at us in a thousand broken ways.

Holy Cow 2025 - cow′s skull, bronze wings(ed of 1/3), mild steel. The Delusion - A playful look at the religious idolatry, twisting paradigms with India′s sacred cow crowned by thrones and adorned by the wings of an angel. Presented as a trophy kill.

The Greatest Sideshow on Earth 2025 - 7 framed digital prints, archival ink jet print on mirror. The Delusion - Like a simple children′s game at the carnival

The Calvary Myth - wood fired stoneware, black slip and fly ash, steel. 5 day firing in the Qdos Anagram wood kiln in 2022. There is no consensus as to the location of the site. Calvary or Golgotha was a site according to Christianity′s four canonical gospels, where Jesus was crucified. John 19:20 describes the site as near a city. According to Hebrews 13:12 it was outside the city gate. Matthew 27:39 and Mark 15:29 both note that the location would have been accessible to passers-by. Thus locating the crucifixion site involves identifying a site in the city of Jerusalem some four decades before its destruction in AD 70, outside a major gate near enough to the city that passers by could not only see Jesus, but also read the inscription - Jesus the Nazarene.

Miconomics 2025 - porcelain, unique bronze, resin, bullet shells. The Delusion: The ″military-industrial complex″ (M.I.C.) is a term coined by President Dwight D.Eisenhower in his 1961 farewell address to warn against the potential for a powerful alliance between the military and defense contractors. Eisenhower expressed concern that this relationship could lead to excessive military spending, influence public policy, and pose a threat to American democracy and its domestic priorities. This complex, which continues to be a significant force in U.S. politics, benefits from the mutual interest of the military in acquiring weapons nd the defense industry in selling them. “Politics is the entertainment division of the M.I.C.” Frank Zappa

Papered Over 2025 - porcelain, archival ink jet prints. Papered Over or rather Bretton-Woods is Broken 2025 The Delusion: This sculpture critiques the fragile illusion of the financial system by visualizing the act of ‘papering over” – a practice where bankers and lawmakers use a veneer of officiality, complex regulations and perceived trust to conceal an inherently unstable core. The work further dissects the central delusion of money itself: the belief in its solid and permanent value. In reality, this “solidity” is a social construct, a precarious illusion built on a foundation of speculation, debt and empty promises “IN GOD WE TRUST” on American fait currency

A Shameful Veto 2025 - porcelain, children′s building blocks. The Shameful VETO 2025 The Delusion : The overwhelming 153 -10 vote for a Gaza ceasefire in December 2023 highlighted the will of the UN. The US’s solitary veto against this majority made a mockery of the institution, shamefully prioritizing a single alliance over global consensus and human life.

Unspoken Influencers 2025 - porcelain, unique bronze, condoms. The sculpture becomes a physical thesis on how sexuality and gender dynamics operate in high stakes diplomacy. The ′honey trap′ the use of seduction and blackmail. The power of the leader′s personal magnetism and charm, which often carries a sexual undercurrent to build rapport and sway opinions. The oldest and most primal dynamics, desire, attraction and gender still the unspoken influencer at the delicate porcelain facade of international relations.′

Diminished Justice 2025. porcelain, burnt wooden gavel, antique scales, 72 x 38 cms The Delusion: ″Justice delayed is justice denied″ is a legal maxim.

Tea 2025 porcelain, unique bronze In business, sharing tea is more than a refreshment: it’s a ritual. It creates a moment of calm, fosters connection and builds the mutual respect essential for negotiation. This shared pause can transform a transactional discussion into a collaborative partnership, paving the way for a successful outcome.

A Table for Tomorrow 2025 porcelain, white stoneware The Delusion - This piece represents a future forged through the essential international collaboration, where our shared stewardship of nature is paramount. It serves as a poignant reminder that protecting our planer from the climate change is a unified, global endeavour for all humanity.
