These paintings explore abstraction through layered relationships of form, rhythm, structure, and material. Emerging through an intuitive process of continual reorganisation, they draw on memories of place, weathering, and spatial experience. Rather than depicting the world directly, the works invite sustained looking, where meaning gradually unfolds through the language of paint.
Working primarily in oil, each painting develops through successive layers that are built, disrupted, and reconfigured. The process balances intuition with considered decision-making, allowing traces of earlier passages to remain visible beneath the surface. References to erosion, atmospheric change, and spatial structure are translated into abstract visual relationships that resist fixed interpretation.
The works are not representations of place but investigations into perception, memory, and material presence. They invite viewers to move beyond recognition and engage with subtle shifts of colour, surface, rhythm, and space that continue to reveal themselves over time.
